What to Outsource?
The decision on what to outsource is not an easy one, but the business benefits are proven — access to the right skills at the right time, high quality software applications, and a fresh approach to your technology challenges. Vision has a focused approach to assist our customers in figuring it all out. We have been doing it for over 1 year, after all. Together, we make intelligent decisions about which portions of your Engineering environment we should manage, and which components you should continue to manage. How? First, we build a relationship with you. In order to make a recommendation, we need to understand your business, culture, objectives, vision, and history.
Client Survey
Next, we conduct a high level survey of your application portfolios. We look at how the applications function in the business, the general state of the applications, number of users, if they are critical to business operations, etc. With this information, we can generally rule out some application groups based on set criteria. For instance, support on an application that is unstable is not a good candidate to outsource.
Analysis
Then, we dive deep into the targeted application portfolios. In this evaluation, we carefully survey and collect detailed information about the applications. Size, age, enhancement backlog, current support staff size, special requirements, retirement plans, etc. Lastly, we issue a report, delivered in a presentation format, with our findings and recommendation. With you, we define next steps, which generally include a pricing proposal for outsourcing services. What makes our approach successful? We keep our eye on the ball and focus on the fundamentals, including:
Knowledge Transfer
Vision has fine-tuned our proprietary knowledge transfer process, Vision transfer, to ensure a smooth transition from the existing team to the Vision team. This includes job shadowing, documentation, and a unique knowledge measurement system.
Project Management
The quality of project management can be directly correlated to a development initiative's success or failure. Our Project Management practices are based on the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge. Communication, risk management, and leadership are the keys in project management. We promote and ensure communication. We ensure there is a clear understanding of the business objectives and scope through the entire project team. We identify and manage project risks proactively. And most importantly, our Project Managers are leaders empowered by Vision to act in the best interest of the customer's success. And most of them are PMI-certified, and are in the process of pursuing certification.
Customers for Life
We approach your project with the long term in mind, knowing that as time passes, the value we can deliver to your organization grows. And that is a win-win situation.
